In February this year, Wellbeing Waikato was established as a Charitable Trust. Our Deed sets out the key governance principles and structures that guide the trust and can be seen here.
The Deed sets out the rules for trustees, including their number, term and the process for selecting new trustees. The trust must have a minimum of three trustees, and a maximum of seven. The trust was established with three trustees, Delwyn Abraham (Chair), Mike Rolton and Don Scarlet.
The trustees want to seek additional trustees to help guide and govern the next critical phase for Wellbeing Waikato. The deed provides for several methods for the selection of Trustees. Trustees have agreed to work with Waikato Tainui to select a fourth trustee, to represent Waikato Māori and iwi. A fifth trustee will be sought via an open call for expressions of interest (EOI).
This is an opportunity to contribute to something that matters—helping ensure that the Waikato is a place where people, whānau and communities can thrive, now and into the future. You will be able to bring your experience, perspective, and networks to help support a more equitable and resilient Waikato. We welcome interest from people who:
Have experience in community and social leadership and impact, purpose-driven business, governance, or leadership roles
Are strongly motivated by contributing to positive social and community outcomes and are not satisfied with the status quo
Bring relationships and networks that could help strengthen our reach and financial sustainability
Are curious about the bigger picture—how different parts of the system connect and shape people’s lives
Genuinely understand and live collective leadership.
You do not need to come from a traditional social sector background. We particularly value those who can bring fresh perspectives, practical insight, and a willingness to engage with complex issues in a grounded way.
